Cancer Research Fundraiser, David Lloyd, Leeds
The Tennis Circus took on its most challenging event to date at David Lloyd, Leeds this November. Four pros, including Wimbledon champions Pat Cash and Jonny Marray, joined Danny Sapsford and James Auckland in providing a fantastic days tennis entertainment.
On behalf of Cancer Research, and sponsored by Jet2.com, the day was jam-packed with activity in order to maximise the opportunity for raising funds. Four, 1 hour tennis clinics provided a mix of doubles tactics for adults and fun/games for the kids. Some players were also able to feel the full force of returning Pat’s serve, whilst others enjoyed a competitive doubles with Jonny.
Following lunch, there was a fascinating exhibition by the GB wheelchair tennis squad. Then, Pat, Jonny, James and Danny played a highly entertaining exhibition, incorporating some sublime tennis and outrageous trick shots.
The day finished with a black tie dinner and auction for 250 guests.
It was an exhausting day, but highly rewarding as over £20,000 was raised for such a worthy cause.
Centenary Celebration Day at Hartswood Tennis Club – May 2014

Reasons for Day – To provide an enjoyable and memorable day for the members, to include coaching for 72 members, exhibition matches, the unveiling of a Centenary plaque by the Mayor and a good BBQ lunch.
Requested – 2 Pros (Danny Sapsford and James Auckland). 3 x one hour coaching sessions for Juniors, Ladies and Men, 24 to be coached on each session. 2 x exhibition matches, each 30 minutes, of mixed doubles and then men’s doubles.
Jonny Marray Mini Tour
Keen to share his success with players and clubs from his home County, Yorkshire, Jonny embarked on a 2 weekend, 4 Club mini Tour in association with The Tennis Circus. The Tennis Days took place in November and December following the culmination of a superb tennis season for the 31 year old, where he finished the year at a career high 17 in the ATP World Rankings.
The Clubs that participated were, Thongsbridge, Chapel Allerton, David Lloyd York and The Academy, Harrogate.
The format of the Day varied from club to club dependent upon their needs, but generally the format of the day was:
3 x 1 hr coaching master classes followed by:
A tennis exhibition where Jonny teamed up with ex-Davis Cup pro, Danny Sapsford plus 2 local club pros.
